It took four years but police finally capture Break and Enter suspect

Almost four years to the day police arrested the suspect in a Portage Avenue Break and Enter.

On August 14, 2014, the suspect broke into a medical centre by smashing a window. He stole an undisclosed amount of medication and took off.

The Forensic Services Unit was able to identify the suspect from evidence left at the scene.

On Sunday, August 12, 2018, around 10:30 am the same suspect tried to carjack a vehicle behind a home in the 400 block of Burrows Avenue. The victim was in his vehicle when the suspect opened the door, threatened the victim and began struggling with him in an attempt to get him out of the vehicle. Family members came out of the residence after hearing the victim yell for help. the suspect took off.

A few hours later police say that the suspect damaged an electrical outlet behind a business in the 1600 block of Main Street.

Fabian Scott Mason, 39 from Winnipeg was arrested by police just after 1:30 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018. He is facing charges for his alleged involvement  of Robbery, Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment and Break Enter & Commit – Place

He was detained in custody.
