Winnipeg Police were called to a break and enter in the 500 block of Bannatyne Ave. around 6:00am Thursday.
A 48 year old male suspect had allegedly attempted to break into the homeowner’s shed. The suspect was confronted by a 62 year old male resident and an altercation took place. The suspect struck the resident with an improvised weapon resulting in an upper body injury.
The victim’s 29 year old son got involved to defend his father and the son and the suspect got into a fight, resulting in the suspect striking a metal railing. The victims physically restrained the suspect until police arrived
The 62 year old victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The 48 year old suspect was transported to hospital in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition, and remains in police custody.
The 48 year old suspect is facing the following charges;
– Assault Cause Bodily Harm
– Assault
– Break Enter With Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
– Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
– Utter Threats X2
– Mischief Under $5000
