Break and enter suspect in custody

Winnipeg Police have a 20-year-old break and enter suspect in custody after an incident in the Chalmers park area of Winnipeg.

Police say that early Friday morning, October 22, 2201, they received a report of someone attempting to break into a residence.

Air-1 responded to the call and watched as the suspect damaged property and smash windows on the property. Officers in the helicopter directed ground units in the area and provided updates.

As police on the ground arrived the suspect took off on foot with police pursing. With the help of the police aerial unit the suspect was captured on Riverton Avenue after officers depoyed a taser.

The suspect was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Break and Enter with Intent, Mischief Over $5,000, Possession of a Weapon, Resist Peace Officer and Escape Lawful Custody.
