A man wanted on outstanding warrants for breaching the conditions of his probation and failing to attend court was picked up by patrol officers as he walked along Redwood Avenue on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
Turns out the man was also the suspect in a number of break-ins being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit. Investigators say that they between December 4, 2018, and January 16, 2019, a number of break-ins occurred across the city.
Derek Lloyd Penney, 30 was charged with a number of offences for his alleged involvement including:
- Possess Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X2
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance X8
- Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possess Break In Instrument(s)
- Theft Under $5000
- Break and Enter with Intent X4
- Break, Enter and Theft X9
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Penney was detained in custody.
