Breach of Federal Quarantine Act results in $8,550 fine

One person was hit hard in the pocketbook after they reportedly breached the Federal Quarantine Act and nine others were fined for ignoring public health orders last week.

Manitoba enforcement officials say that between July 19 and 25 ten people received tickets and 59 were given warnings for not following COVID-19 restrictions.

Of those fined five received $1,296 tickets, three were ticketed $298 for failing to wear a mask in an indoor public place, one business was handed a $5,000 ticket and one person was hit with an $8,550 fine for breaching federal quarantine.
