Brandon Police arrest carjacker

Brandon Police have arrested a 27-year-old man who was involved in an armed robbery of a vehicle.

News 4 first told you last week about an armed carjacking on March 14, 2018, that happened on Cornell Bay in Brandon. A female had arrived at a residence in the early morning hours and was approached by a man brandishing a firearm. He demanded the victim turn over her keys. The suspect then took off with her vehicle. Police located the vehicle on Cornwallis Crescent and tried to stop it but the driver sped away. A high-speed chase ensued but officers had to call it off when the vehicle they were pursuing ran several red lights.

Police arrested the suspect just before 6:00 pm on March 19, 2018, as he exited a residence in the 200 block of 24th Street.

He has been charged with Robbery with a Weapon, Assault with a Weapon, Pointing a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of Firearm and Flight from Police.
