Woman tries to buy vehicle with stolen ID

Brandon Police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old woman after she allegedly tried to buy a vehicle using stolen ID and personal documents.

Police say that on the afternoon of Monday, May 27, 2019, they received a call from a car dealership in the city concerned that a customer was using false documents. Several red flags were raised as the dealership ran a credit check with the identification provided.

A call to the person who was depicted in the documents confirmed the ID had been stolen.

Officers found the suspect nearby and found several other identification cards which had also been stolen. Police also found several identification documents that had been altered.

As well as the stolen IDs police also found the woman had a small quantity of Meth in her possession.

The suspect was detained in custody and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Use Forged Document, Identity theft, Attempt Fraud Over $5000, Public Mischief, and Possession of Meth.
