Brandon Traffic stop leads to weapon and drug charges

Brandon Police have two men in custody after an early morning traffic stop in the Wheat City.

Police say that shortly after 2:00 am officers pulled over a vehicle in the 200 block of 13th Street. The driver of the vehicle, it turns out, was suspended from driving and was under a court ordered curfew of 10:00 pm. He was placed under arrest and a search of his person was conducted where officers discovered a hatchet. On top of his curfew the male was also under orders not to possess any weapons.

He has been charged with Possess Proceeds of Crime, Breach of Recognizance, and Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

A 21-year-old passenger in the vehicle was also arrested after officers found him to be in possession of about three grams of Meth. He is facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth, and Possession of Proceeds of Crime.  

Both men are slated to appear in court.
