Brandon schools placed on hold and secure after shooting

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, a man walked into Brandon Regional Health Centre with a gunshot wound to his upper body just before 8:00 am.

Police were called and learned that the man had been shot around 7:00 am at a home in the 300 block of 6th Street.

Police immediately contacted three schools in the area. St. Augustine School, Prairie Hope High School and New Era School were placed on hold and secure while the investigation was underway.

Investigators went to the home and spent several hours gathering evidence and looking into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The victim was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.

The hold and secure at the schools was lifted around 11:00 am

Brandon Police continue to investigate.
