Brandon Police say that Earl Oxford School went into a lockdown around 9:30 am on Tuesday May 7, 2019.

Police say a woman, who was not known to school staff, was found on the property and told them she was being chased by a man with a weapon.

School officials keep the woman in an office as they initiated the lockdown and called police.

Officers searched the school but did not find a threat.

Soon afterwards members of the woman’s family arrived at the school and it became clear to officers that she had been experiencing mental health issues.

Investigators do not believe that the threat was real and it is unlikely the woman was being chased.

Police say the woman did not have any contact with students while she was in the school.

The woman was taken from the school to receive medical treatment.
