Police pursuit terminated after speeds become dangerous

Brandon Police were forced to call off a pursuit of a vehicle after speeds reached dangerous levels on New Year’s Day.

It began just before 5:30 pm. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle at 34th and Victoria Avenue but the driver refused and sped off. Officers pursued as the vehicle travelled north to 34th and Rosser then truned east to 26th Street.

Police say that during the pursuit speeds reached as high as 90 km/h. The officers terminated the pursuit because of the dangers involved.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the east end of the city.

Brandon Police continue to investigate.
