Brandon Police officers accused of fabricating evidence

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is looking into a case involving Brandon Police Service (BPS) officers allegedly fabricating evidence following a February 2021 arrest.

According to the IIU they received notice from BPS about that the male involved in the arrest made a claim to police that officers fabricated evidence and falsified information by intentionally including inaccurate information in their notes and reports.

Fabricating evidence is an offence that the IIU is mandated to investigate under the Police Services Act.
