24 year old Winnipeg man busted by Brandon cops after getting stuck in a snow bank
In the wee hours of Monday morning Brandon police officers on patrol came across a vehicle stuck in a snow bank but it’s what they found in the vehicle that soon had a Winnipeg man in cuffs.
It happened just after midnight February 6, 2017 at the intersection of 18th Street and Maple Avenue. A lone man was standing outside the vehicle and as police approached they noticed the distinct smell of booze on his breath.
Police ran the man’s ID and found that he was on an undertaking with the condition that he not drink alcohol.
Police took him into custody and searched the vehicle and that’s when they found two sawed off shotguns, ammunition and balaclavas.
The 24 year old man has been charged with Breach of Undertaking, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm X 2, Possession of a firearm in a Motor Vehicle X 2, Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order X 2, and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order X 2.
He was remanded into custody and taken to the Brandon Correctional Center
Police continue to investigate.
