Drinking and Driving in Brandon gets you a court date
Brandon Police Service often deal with people under the influence getting into vehicles and attempting to drive and this past weekend was no exception. On Friday evening police in the wheat city stopped a 37 year old female in the 300 block of 9th St. just after 9:30pm. She appeared to be impaired so police ran a breath test which confirmed their observation. The woman was arrested and will appear in court on April 27, 2017.
On Saturday a 23 year old female was arrested after police responded to an accident scene on Dominion Way. Police say the woman turned northbound onto Dominion Way, lost control of her vehicle and hit a light standard. She later provided two samples of her breath resulting in alcohol readings over the legal limit. She will also appear in court on April 27th.
Later Saturday night around 11:30pm police got a call about a possible impaired driver. Police responded to the 200 block of 18th St. North and found a 27 year old female who showed signs of impairment. She was arrested on scene. She faces multiple charges because not only was she drinking and driving she also did not have a driver’s licence or vehicle insurance.
Early Sunday morning a 38 year old woman was arrested after she backed her vehicle into a taxi in a parking lot in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue. Police believed the woman was showing signs of impairment. She was taken to Police HQ where officers requested a breath sample. The suspect refused to provide samples. Police held the woman at the Brandon Correctional Centre until sober. She was charged with impaired driving and refusing a breath demand.
