A man who identified himself as an American citizen is sitting behind bars after it is alleged he crossed into Canada illegally.
On Monday Brandon police were conducting a check on a pedestrian in the 100 block of 10th Street when they learned that the male may have entered Canada not through a port of entry.
Canada Border Service Agency was contacted and they requested the man be detained under the Immigration Refugee Protection Act.
The 34 year old man from Bismarck, North Dakota was arrested and taken to Brandon Correctional Centre.
