Brandon patient charged with assaulting first responders

Brandon Police have arrested a 43-year-old male after he allegedly assaulted a member of the Brandon Fire and Emergency Services on Saturday, January 16, 2021.

According to police the male had reported that he was having breathing difficulties. While first responders were treating him he became disruptive and began intentionally coughing on those treating him and telling them he was COVID-19 positive.

Police were called and took the male to the hospital for treatment.

The accused was released from custody and will appear in a Brandon court on March 1, 2021, to face the assault charges.
