BRANDON | INMATE ESCAPES CORRECTIONAL CENTRE

He wasn’t on the lamb for long but one inmate in the Brandon Correctional Centre spent just over an hour before police put and end to his flight to freedom.

It started just before 3:00pm on Friday in the western city when corrections officials contacted Brandon Police Service and told them of the escape.

A 28 year old man had managed to break free of his confines and spent a little more than an hour trying to outrun law enforcement.

Nearby Assiniboine Community College and Kirkcaldy Heights School went into lock down as the inmate was seen running through the grounds of ACC.

The large police presence in the area was able to track down and recapture the convict.

He was charged for the escape and then taken to Brandon Regional Health Centre to have injuries he sustained in the escaped looked at.
