The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) of Manitoba are investigating an incident involving a Brandon Police officer on December 1, 2018.

According to the IIU an officer who was on-duty reversed his police cruiser and crashed into another vehicle. The officer claimed he was rear-ended but the police vehicle on-board audio and video recording system does not support the officer’s version of events.

IIU civilian director, Zane Tessler, has determined that it would be in the public interest to investigate the incident.
