Police use taser on driver
Brandon Police were responding to a call from a West End resident who reported that her ex-boyfriend had been sitting in a vehicle outside her home throwing things at her house. When police arrived in the area they say the vehicle driving in the area of 34th Street and attempted to make a traffic stop on Linden Blvd. The driver, the ex-boyfriend, fled from the vehicle and took off on foot. Officers pursued the suspect and eventually caught the driver after having to taser him on Neepawa Drive.
Four other people were also in the car and when police searched it they found a 12 gauge shotgun in the drivers area of the vehicle.
Police also believed that the driver was impaired so he was taken to BPS where he was given a breathalizer test and results showed he was double the legal limit. He was arrested for Impaired Driving, Drive Over 80mg%, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order, Mischief to Property and Uttering Threats. He also had a Probation Order to Not Contact or Communicate with the complainant. Police also found out he had Warrants for his Arrest for six counts of Breach of Probation and Fail to Attend Court.
The passenger in the vehicle also face a number of charges
A Crane River man, age 21 was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order and a warrant of Arrest for Public Mischief.
A 20 year old male from Brandon was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle and two warrants of Arrest for Mischief to Property and Fail to Attend Court. The male was released to attend Court in May.
Another 20 year old male from Brandon a was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle and Breach of Undertaking.
A 24 year old female from Brandon was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle.
