Police say alcohol and speed appear to be a factor in crash
Brandon Police are reporting that a 27-year-old female had to be extricated from a 2014 Dodge Caravan after she slammed into four parked vehicles on E. Fotheringham Drive.
When officers arrived just after 9:45 pm they found the driver trapped inside her seriously damaged vehicle. Brandon Fire and emergency services were able to cut her out of the vehicle and transported her to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police believe that the van was travelling northbound at excessive speed when it plowed into the parked vehicles. Initial indications are the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
Police spent several hours investigating the scene overnight and say that although charges have not been laid yet they expect a number of charges to be laid against the driver in the near future.
