Brandon Police have arrested two people in a counterfeit scam.
News 4 first told you about the scam that altered “training currency” to purchase small items then receive change in legitimate money.

Brandon investigators say that they first became aware of the scam on February 19, 2018.
According to police, a female used a counterfeit $100 bill to buy a small item from a downtown Brandon business. It wasn’t until after the transaction was complete that the employee at the store realized the bill was bogus.
Using the surveillance video from the store officers were able to identify the female suspect.
On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, police went to a residence in the 800 block of 9th Street and arrested a 41-year-old woman. Officers say she put up a fight and had to be subdued.
When searched she was found to be in possession of cocaine. A search of the home located two machetes.
Police say that a 56-year-old male was in the home at the time of the search and handed over $2,000.00 of counterfeit $100 bills
The female suspect has been charged with two counts of Possession of Counterfeit Money, Use Counterfeit Money, Fraud, Resist Arrest, Possession of Cocaine and Breach of Court Order X3.
The male was arrested and charged with Possession of Counterfeit Money and was released to attend Court in April.
