Brandon police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old male after he assaulted a Brandon store employee with a chocolate bunny.
Police say that around 4:00 pm on March 31, 2022, the suspect was attempting to steal items from a Victoria Avenue business when he was confronted by a store employee. The suspect struck the employee with a “Mr Solid” chocolate bunny causing minor injuries.
Police located the suspect nearby after he had fled the store and placed him under arrest. He was still in possession of the items taken from the store.
The accused has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault and Theft under $5,000.
Brandon Police Service noted that even though the weapon was atypical of what suspects normally use, suspects can be unpredictable and violent towards employees during thefts. They often use whatever weapon is available to them at the time.
