Winnipeg Police were called to a field in the southeast of the city after a body was found on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
Winnipeg Police public information officer, Rob Carver said that the body appears to have been in the field just under a year and was found by a city worker. Carver said that police do not believe that death was a criminal matter but that the body may be linked to a missing person file.
Carver confirmed that the case is not related to the disappearance of Thelma Krull who disappeared in July 2015.
Police have not released the cause of death. The body is in advanced stages of decomposition making it difficult to identify the victim.
The investigation continues.
