Suspect arrested in Dec. 2018 Ricardo Hibi murder

Police in Winnipeg have arrested 21-year-old Kane Ashley Antonio Moar for the killing of 34-year-old Ricardo Junior Hibi on December 17, 2018.

Emergency crews had been called to the 600 block of McGee Street and located Hibi suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police issued a plea for help from the public in locating Moar on December 19, 2018, at which point he was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for Second Degree Murder.

A second request for information on Moar’s whereabouts was issued on December 27, 2018.

On Saturday, January 5, 2019 around 11:30 pm a Winnipeg Police Cadet Unit arrested Moar under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act. Moar gave them a false name at the time of his arrest.

Police say that Moar became combative when he arrived at police headquarters and kicked an officer as he was being taken out of a police cruiser.

Moar is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Second Degree Murder, Unlawfully at large, Assault a Peace Officer and Identity Fraud.

He was detained in custody.
