A man and woman in their 20s are facing weapons-related charges after the male blew through a stop sign.
According to Winnipeg police, a Traffic Unit officer stopped the vehicle in the 900 block of Talbot Avenue. As the officer was speaking to the driver, the female passenger began yelling erratically and got out of the vehicle. A male passenger also exited, then ran away from the scene on foot.
The male driver was previously prohibited from driving and placed under arrest. During a search of the vehicle a loaded .45 calibre pistol was found. The female passenger was taken into custody.
Officers learned that the gun had been stolen during a residential break-in in 2019.
25-year-old Tyrell George Dumas was charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 3
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition x 3
- Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle x 3
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime x 3
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited Pursuant to Federal or Provincial Act
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
26-year-old KAte Mary Ross was charged for her alleged involvement with:
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2
- Breach of Recognizance
Both accused were detained in custody.
