As News 4 previously told you around 11:00 pm Monday June 19, 2017 Winnipeg Police Cadets and Winnipeg Fire Services members were in the Martha Street area when they were called over by bystanders to help a man who had been brutally beaten.
The man was taken to hospital in critical condition after suffering head trauma.

With the aid of witnesses the cadets located the suspect in the assault .
43 year old Sydney Eric Norman Fleury was charged for aggravated Assault for his alleged involvement.
On Wednesday June 21, 2017 the victim of the assault died due to the injuries he sustained in the assault. Police identified the victim as Marvin Elias Caribou age 37.
Investigators have laid additional charges against Fleury. He has now been charged with Manslaughter for his alleged involvement in Caribou’s death.
Fleury remains in the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
