Youth attacked with bear spray to the face

Brandon Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy after he allegedly sprayed another 13-year-old male in the face with bear spray. Bear spray is a more potent version of pepper spray used in self-defence or by law enforcement agencies.

According to police, the two boys knew each other.

The attack happened in the back lane behind the victim’s home on Green Acres around 8:00 pm on June 19, 2018.

Paramedics took the victim and his mother to Brandon Regional Health Centre for treatment.

The suspect was found at his home along with the can of bear spray. He has been charged with Assault with a weapon, Possessing a Prohibited Weapon, and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order.

He was released to a parents custody and will appear in court in July.
