RCMP have a 34-year-old male in custody after being called to a Sagkeeng First Nation home for a report of a disturbance on April 23, 2020.
Police say they were advised that a male was believed to be under the influence of drugs and was being violent to other people in the home.
When officers arrived the male charged towards them with what police describe as an edged weapon.
The man was tasered to no effect. He then retreated into a bathroom and barricaded himself inside.
After several hours attempting to negotiate with the suspect, officers forced the door open. The man was tasered and sprayed with pepper spray before being taken into custody.
Officers seized a homemade bayonette / imitation firearm.
Thomas Hall from Sagkeeng First Nation was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Assault with a Weapon on a Police Officer x4
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Using a Firearm in the commission of an offence
- Mischief
- Fail to Comply x3
- Uttering Threats
- Resisting Arrest
