On Friday, January 26, 2018, firefighters from Plum Coulee and Winkler teamed up to battle a blaze at a farm between the two towns.
Just after 2:00 pm the call came in about a barn on fire. Plum Coulee Fire Chief Tony Fehr said that it took crews about two hours to extinguish the blaze. No one was hurt during the fire but a number of pets in the barn at the time did die.
The fire started due to issues with an electric heater and caused upwards of $50,000 in damages.
Winkler fire department was called in as part of a mutual aid agreement between the two fire departments.
