After more than 50 years guarding the corner of William and King the Public Safety Building will be closing for good at 7:00am Wednesday morning.
Constructed in 1965 it originally housed the Remand Centre, Police and some provincial courts. For the last few decades it though Winnipeg’s police and fire services called it home.
During the past 7 months, more than 1300 members were moved into HQ from facilities across the city. That included most of the divisions and units within the Winnipeg Police Service.
