Suspects in British Columbia murder may be in Manitoba, say RCMP

Manitoba RCMP say that the two male suspects in the murder of an Australian and an American in British Columbia may have made their way to Manitoba.

Police say the pair, Kam McLeod, 19 and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, were initially reported as missing but are now suspected of killing Australian Lucas Fowler, 23, and American Chynna Deese, 24 on July 15, 2019.

Police say the victims were found dead along a stretch of the Alaska Highway just 20 kilometres south of a popular Liard Hot Springs.

RCMP say that the suspects may be in the Gilliam area. Gilliam is about 1064 kilometres north of Winnipeg by car.

Police are warning the public that McLeod and Schmegelsky are considered dangerous and not to approach them. If you see them or know where they are RCMP say to call 911 or your local police service.
