AXE WIELDING TRANSIT RIDER DISARMED BY PASSENGERS

 

 

Axe and Brass Knuckles taken from suspect

 

 

 

 

 

 

Another potentially dangerous situation on a Winnipeg Transit bus happened around 9:30 pm on Friday March 3, 2017.

Two male passengers on the bus noticed a 22 year old man with an axe and brass knuckles seated on the bus. The suspect had apparently boarded the bus on Regent near bond Street just after 9:00 pm.

The two concerned males intervened and took it upon themselves to disarm the suspect. 

When the bus stopped at Watt Street and Nairn Avenue the accused was removed from the bus by the driver and the two men and held for police.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested the accused on the sidewalk outside the bus. 

Police report that no one was injured in the incident.

The suspect was charged with:

  •  Possession of a Weapon x 2
  •  Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance x 2.

He was remanded in custody.
