Attempted Murder charges laid in December attack on woman and youth

As News 4 previously told you on December 16, 2017, an adult female and a male youth were attacked in the 300 block of Aikins Street.

When emergency crews arrived just after 4:00 am they found a 19-year-old female had been hit with shotgun pellets and a 15-year-old male had been hit by pellets and shrapnel.

An investigation revealed that during a house party an altercation took place between a number of people. A male hid his face pulled out a shotgun and fired the weapon through a closed door hitting the victims.

Police identified the suspect and on January 31, 2018, they placed him under arrest.

Steven Lester Paul Sanderson, 18 from Grand Rapids, Manitoba Has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Attempt to Commit Murder, a number of weapons-related charges and Disguise with Intent.

Sanderson was held in custody.
