Police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old man in connection to a stabbing on May 8, 2019.

Investigators say that just before 9:30 pm that night the suspect approached a female that was unknown to him in the area of Dufferin Avenue and McKenzie Street. After talking briefly the pair walked to a secluded area nearby.

Once out of sight the suspect assaulted the female, stabbed her then made threats against her.

Emergency crews responded to the area after receiving reports of an injured female. The victim had suffered a stab wound to the torso. She was taken to hospital in unstable condition and treated.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect and on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 placed him under arrest

Scott Andrew Gerzanic from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Attempted Murder and Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration.

Gerzanic has be detained in custody.
