Attempted murder charges laid in Langside Street shooting

Winnipeg Police have charged a 24-year-old Winnipeg man with Attempted Murder in connection to a shooting on Langside Street on June 2, 2019.

Police say they were called to the 400 block of Langside around 3:45 am where they found a 23-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Merhawl Mehari was arrested by police just before 11:00 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2019. During his arrest officers found about $100 worth of crack cocaine along with a weapon.

Mehari has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Discharge a firearm with intent
  • Possess weapon
  • Possess controlled substance

He was detained in custody.
