Attempted murder charges laid after store employee shot

A 22-year-old male is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting an employee of a Logan Avenue convenience store.

Police say that around 11:30 am on July 25, 2023, police were called to the 800 block for a report of a 21-year-old male suffering serious injuries from a gunshot wound. The victim was located and taken to hospital in critical condition then upgraded to stable.

Police say that video surveillance of the incident showed the suspect went into the store, selected a drink and left without paying. The victim, who was an employee at the store, saw the theft happen and followed the suspect outside the store and confronted him. The suspect pulled out a sawed-off shotgun, shot the victim and fled on foot.

Police identified the suspect and arrested him later that day at a Main Street residence.

Dakota Raven Lee Bruyere has been charged for his alleged involvement with Attempt to Commit Murder, Armed Robbery using a Firearm, Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized and Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition.
