Attempted murder charges laid after 11-year-old stabbed

RCMP have laid Attempted Murder charges against a 29-year-old female.

Police say that just before 1:30 am on Saturday, June 1, 2019 officers were called to a home on Wasagamack First Nation. Wasagamack is about 607 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.

An 11-year-old girl had been stabbed inside a home in the community. She was taken to the nursing station then transported to hospital. She is currently in stable condition.

RCMP are withholding the name of the suspect in an effort to protect the identity of the victim.

The investigation continues.
