Lockport man facing Attempted Murder charges after woman shot

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 40-year-old Lockport man after a woman who had been shot was found in his vehicle.

Police say that early Saturday morning, August 4, 2018, just after 2:00 am patrol officers located the truck near Andrews Street and Aberdeen Avenue.

As more officers responded to the call the suspect approached officers after throwing something between two parked vehicles. The man raised his hands in the air and surrendered to police who took him into custody. Police searched the area between the vehicles and found a firearm.

Investigators say that they believe the accused was involved in an argument with the victim and another acquaintance right before the shooting.

Donald Michael Kargus has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
  • Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
  • Pointing a Firearm (x2)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With

He was detained in custody.
