AstraZeneca vaccine going to Manitobans 50-64 to start

The first doses of the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine are expected to arrive in Manitoba next week.

The newly approved vaccine is earmarked for people aged 50 to 64 and will be distributed through participating pharmacies and medical clinics. According to the province, priority will be given to those at increased risk of experiencing serious outcomes.

The AstraZeneca vaccine requires two doses given up to 12 weeks apart and does not require specialized freezers for its storage.
