The City of Winnipeg announced on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 that the portion of Assiniboine Forest that had been closed due to aggressive coyotes earlier this month is now reopened.
On July 14, 2020, Manitoba Conservation ordered the northern section of the forest to be closed after receiving multiple reports of coyotes exhibiting predatory, stalking behaviour.

Although the forest has reopened to the public the city recommends that visitors be vigilant and aware of their surrounding while in the forest. All dogs must be kept on-leash the city said in a written release.
Any sightings of aggressive or odd coyote behaviour should be reported to the Province of Manitoba by calling 1-800-782-0076.
