Winnipeg Police have arrested a 24-year-old suspect after he was allegedly involved in a number of incidents involving weapons.
After a verbal confrontation with a 41-year-old male on October 21, 2018, outside an Edmonton Street restaurant, the suspect pulled out a handgun and sprayed him with bear spray after following him to Kennedy Street.
Just after 3:30 am on November 11, 2018, the suspect assaulted a 33-year-old male outside the same Edmonton Street restaurant. The victim received injuries to his upper body.
On November 25, 2018, again around 3:30 am the suspect confronted a victim at a Portage Avenue nightclub. The victim told officers that the suspect threatened them while holding a knife. The suspect took off before police arrived.
On December 3, 2018, just after noon, police found the suspect in a Pembina Highway motel. He had about $5,000 cash in his possession along with ID belonging to someone else.
Haben Nipsey Weldekidan, 24 from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Pointing a Firearm
- Assault with a Weapon X2
- Possess Weapon X2
- Uttering Threats X3
- Fail to Comply with Probation X8
- Possession of an Identity Document
- Identity Fraud
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
He has been detained in custody.
