Winnipeg Police have three people in custody and are looking for a fourth suspect after a 50-year-old man was stabbed then robbed before the rental care he was driving was stolen.
It happened on Sunday, April 8, 2018, just before 6:30 pm.
Investigators say the victim was standing outside his rental vehicle near Sargent Avenue and Lipton Street when he was approached by two people. One of the suspects pulled a knife and demanded the victim drive them somewhere. The suspect continued to threaten the victim with the knife while he was driving. The victim was ordered to drive the car to a back lane on Selkirk Avenue. The suspects then demanded money and the car keys. When the victim told them he had no money one of the suspects slashed him across the chest with the knife. The suspects then forced the victim to give them his bank cards and his pin numbers.
At this point the suspects let the victim go and took off in the vehicle.
The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition but later upgraded to stable.
On Friday, April 13, 2018, AIR-1 spotted the stolen vehicle near Parr Street and Mountain Avenue. The driver and passenger in the car took off on foot but were soon captured by k-9 members on the ground.
Cody Henry Bousquet, 27 was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3.
Demaris Angel Rose Flett, 20 was arrested and charged for her alleged involvement with Public Mischief, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and Fail to Comply with Recognizance X2.
The next day on Saturday, April 14, 2018 police captured one of the suspects in the initial assault and robbery.
30-year-old Barry Shane Stevenson is facing Assault with a Weapon and Robbery charges for his alleged involvement.
Police are still looking for another suspect related to the original assault and robbery.
All three suspects were detained in custody
