ASSAULT | TEEN ASSAULTS MAN WITH HATCHET

On June 17, 2016 at approximately 8:15 a.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received numerous reports of a male being assaulted and robbed of his bicycle in the area of Wellington Crescent and Academy Road.

Witnesses to the incident were able to give a description of the suspect and provide a direction of travel. At approximately 8:35 a.m. responding general patrol units were able to locate the suspect and place him under arrest.

It was determined that the 42-year-old male victim was going to work by bicycle when the suspect stepped into his path forcing him to stop. The suspect allegedly attempted to steal the victim’s bicycle, a brief struggle ensued, and the suspect hit the victim several times with a hatchet. The victim sustained non-threatening injuries. The suspect was able to steal the bicycle and flee.

Cane Ashley MOAR, 19-years-old of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

  • Robbery
  • Fail to Comply with Probation
