On Saturday, October 29, 2016 around 4:30 pm emergency crews responded to an assault in an apartment in the 400 block of Maryland Street. A 20 year old man was taken to hospital with a number of injuries and is now in stable condition.
Police returned to the apartment Sunday morning as part of their investigation and noticed a white powder but could not confirm its origin. Out of an abundance of caution police called in the Clandestine Lab unit to deal with the substance.
Police say that they do not believe a drug lab was in existence but deployed the Clandestine Lab unit because they have special training and equipment to deal with safety hazards and the possibility of illegal drugs.
The investigation continues.
