A suspect attempting to flee from arrest is facing multiple charges for resisting, assaulting and disarming a peace officer.

On Tuesday, March 19, 2019 police made a traffic stop in Transcona. An identity check showed that an adult male was the subject of an arrest warrant.

As police tried to take the suspect into custody he struggled with officers. An attempt was made by police to taser the suspect but he tried to disarm the officer and was able to make his escape.

Police chased the man on foot. During the pursuit the suspect tried several times to carjack multiple vehicles without success. He was taken into custody after another struggle.

27-year-old Leslie Shane Wolf Stapleton has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

• 1 x Fail to Comply with court order
• 2 x Assault a Peace Officer
• 1 x Resisting a Peace Officer
• 1 x Escape Lawful custody
• 1 x Disarming a Peace Officer
• 2 x Robbery

He was detained in custody.
