Winnipeg Police have arrested a second suspect in an assault that took place on the night of March 6, 2018.
According to investigators, general patrol units responded to a disturbance report in the 600 block of Prichard Avenue. When officers arrived they met a male in his 20s who told them he had been assaulted and then abducted earlier in the evening. The victim was taken to hospital suffering from upper body injuries.
The Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and learned that around 10:00 pm the victim had been walking in the 700 block of Flora Avenue when he was confronted by two males in a vehicle.
The suspects got out of the vehicle armed with a bat and a machete and began to yell the name of a known street gang. They then began beating the victim with the weapons and threw him into their vehicle. they then drove away.
One of the suspects pulled a knife and carved letters into the victim’s cheek.
Police say that the victim was able to free himself and flee.
According to the victim, he did not know either of the suspects.
In May officers were able to locate one of the suspects and place him under arrest.
Jordan Paul Brown, 24 form Winnipeg was charged for his alleged involvement with Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Assault with a Weapon and two counts of Possession of a Weapon.
On Saturday night, July 7, 2018, just before 11:00 pm the second suspect was located around Salter Street and Flora Avenue.
Craig Tapotat, 19 from Winnipeg is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon and Breach of Recognizance.
Both suspects were detained in custody.
