ASSAULT | COUPLE NEW TO CANADA ASSAULTED WITH A KNIFE

Last Thursday evening, August 25th a couple who are newcomers to Canada were robbed at knifepoint an cut.

The pair had been attending a course with the Entry Program at Portage and Donald which helps people settle in the community and provides introduction to english.

The couple were approached by a man who tried to sell them stolen goods. When the couple weren’t interested the man grabbed the woman’s purse.

Police say that as the couple attempted to get the purse back they were cut by the knife.

Witnesses ran after the suspect, who dropped the purse and returned it to the woman. 

The victims were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries

Lee Grant BOUCHER, 36 years of Winnipeg, was arrested at a hotel on Albert St. and  charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Robbery 
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon 
  • Uttering Threats 
  • Possession of a Weapon

He was remanded into custody.
