Assault charges laid in Thompson road rage incidents

RCMP has laid charges against a 45-year-old Thompson man in connection to three road rage incidents over the past month.

On February 10, 2023, a man reported that he was on Thompson Drive in Thompson when he honked at another driver. The other driver rolled down his window and threw a coffee at the victim’s vehicle. The driver then began punching the passenger-side mirror while both vehicles were still moving.

On March 1 an adult male reported that he was driving on Thompson Drive when he honked at a vehicle that was illegally parked on the road. The driver of the parked car got out of his vehicle, threatened the driver who had honked and began hitting the victim’s vehicle with his fists. The victim was able to drive away but the driver of the parked vehicle began to following, honking his horn and driving erratically.

On March 4 an adult female was stopped on Thompson Drive to allow pedestrians to cross the road when a vehicle quickly came up behind her. The driver of that car began yelling at the pedestrians and then threatened and assaulted the female driver and damaged her passenger mirror.

Police went to the suspect’s home on March 5 and placed him under arrest.

He has been charged for his alleged involvement with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats x3
  • Mischief x3
  • Drive Carelessly(Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was released from custody on an Undertaking with conditions.
