Winnipeg Police Service have laid a number of charges against a 20-year-old male after he allegedly attacked a 27-year-old male victim with a knife.
Police say that around 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 17,2020 they responded to a report of a stabbing in the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue.
When officers arrived they located the victim and began emergency first aid. The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.
According to investigators the the victim had been walking in the area when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect attempted to sell meth to the victim but when he refused the offer the suspect attacked causing a significant laceration with a knife.
The suspect then fled.
Police located the suspect a short time later in the 500 block of Manitoba Avenue with help from the community and a WPS K-9 unit
The suspect is facing charges for his alleged involvement of Arrgravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Fail to Comply with Condition of Release (x2), and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
He was detained in custody.
