Arsonist arrested for Black River First Nation house fire

RCMP are investigating a July 23, 2022, house fire on Black River First Nation.

Police say that everyone inside the home were able to get out but the building burned to the ground.

An investigation into the cause of the fire determined it was deliberately set. A 34-year-old Black River First Nation man was identified as a suspect and officers placed him under arrest.

Jordan Bird has been charged for his alleged involvement with Arson and Assault. He was released from custody and will appear in court in the future.

RCMP continue to investigate.
